FOUNDER BIOGRAPHY
For Angel Cares Health & the Angel Cares Network
Angel Eguaras, MD, is the founder and visionary architect behind Angel Cares — a multidisciplinary, community-centered health ecosystem built to redefine how we care for one another. With a background that spans medical training, clinical coordination, integrative health, therapeutic cultivation, and systems design, Angel brings a rare fusion of lived experience, resilience, and strategic innovation to the future of whole-person care.
Angel’s journey into medicine and healing has been shaped not only by academic achievement and clinical expertise, but by profound personal adversity. After navigating disability, financial hardship, loss of identity, and the challenges of an unforgiving healthcare system, Angel transformed hardship into purpose. This lived experience fuels his dedication to creating a model of care grounded not in bureaucracy or profit, but in dignity, compassion, and genuine human connection.
Angel Cares Integrative Health — the clinical foundation of the network — arose from a simple belief: no one should feel lost, unseen, or unsupported when seeking care. He designed the clinic as a team-based, trauma-informed, accessible model where patients receive comprehensive physical, mental, and emotional support from a coordinated, compassionate medical team.
Building on this foundation, Angel expanded the vision into the Angel Cares Network, an ecosystem that integrates:
Clinical primary and integrative care
Therapeutic mushroom and herbal cultivation
A statewide and national growers’ cooperative focused on ethical, regenerative medicine
TheiaCorp, a digital platform for patient engagement, wellness tracking, and community support
The Angel Cares Community Forum, empowering patients and families through education, shared experiences, and peer support
Research, advocacy, and policy partnerships
Community collaborations with schools, nonprofits, and local organizations
Angel’s work bridges clinical medicine, community healing, agricultural therapeutics, health technology innovation, behavioral health, and systems transformation. He is dedicated to building structures that reflect the humanity of both patients and providers, while empowering communities to reclaim their health, knowledge, and hope.
Above all, Angel is a connector — bringing together clinicians, growers, researchers, technologists, advocates, veterans, teachers, creatives, and everyday people to build a healthcare movement rooted in compassion, integrity, and shared purpose.
He currently studies at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, expanding his expertise in leadership, strategy, and health system innovation. His work has earned the attention of clinicians, professors, and community leaders who see in Angel a rare blend of vision, empathy, and systems-level leadership.
Angel’s story is one of resilience transformed into service — and Angel Cares is the vessel through which that service becomes a movement.
